Delaware State Defensive Back Keenan Black Inks with ASM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Alexander Sports Management group announced today its signing with Delaware State defensive back Keenan Black for representation in his professional football endeavors.

“Keenan is a great leader with tremendous field presence, and I am proud to have Keenan as a part of the ASM team,” said ASM President Corey Alexander. “He is athletic, has great experience on both sides of the ball, has great range and a tremendous ceiling.”

Black, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound force from Concord, N.C., was a four-year letter winner at Delaware State, where his senior year he appeared in 11 games, totaled 16 tackles, two interceptions (tied for 1st on the team) and one pass breakup as a defensive back, as well as tallied 128 yards and one touchdown on nine punt returns and recorded 74 yards on three kick returns.

Before switching to defensive back for his final season at Delaware State, Black played at quarterback for his first three seasons with the Hornets. For his junior season, Black completed 44-of-99 passes (44.4%) for 493 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

In 2017, Black appeared in nine games at quarterback, starting the last five, and ranked ninth in the MEAC in passing average (129.9 ypg) and pass efficiency (116.2 rating) with a 47.1% completion rate (82-of-174 passes) for 1169 yards with 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. At quarterback, Black ranked third for the Hornets with 141 yards rushing and was tied for third in the MEAC in touchdown passes, connecting on 16-of-26 passes for career-highs of 234 yards and four touchdowns.

At Concord High School, Black was a four-year letter winner and was named SPC Conference Offensive Player-of-the Year his senior year after completing 174-of-290 passes (60.%) for 2,570 yards and 23 touchdowns, and rushing for 483 yards and 10 TDs on 123 carries.

Also as a senior in 2015, Black helped lead his team to state 3AA tournament semi-final appearances. As a junior, Black was named to the All-SPC First Team as a junior after completing 109 of 193 passes (56.5%) for 1,530 yards.

Black is the son of Trica and Endra Black and while he plans to play professional football, also has dreams of coaching college football later in his career.
